The Weekly (19/04 – 23/04)

In the week when we were all eagerly awaiting the outcome of the great Colin/Cuthbert lawsuit ūüźõ, here‚Äôs everything else you need to know‚Ķ

  • The average engagement rate of a post from a business on Instagram is 0.96% (Hootsuite)

Facebook Story Scheduling

Hallelujah!¬†Facebook has finally announced the addition of Stories scheduling within Business Suite, as well as some other handy additions! ūüôĆ

Users will now be able to compose and schedule both Instagram and Facebook stories within the planning element of Facebook business suite.

Unfortunately, the option isn’t currently available within Creator Studio but we’re hoping it’s just a matter of time!

As well as this, Facebook has now also added a feature that will highlight related content from Facebook Pages below posts that users hover over. From this users will then be given the option to tap through to a new, dedicated feed listing of images from pages similar to their interests.

Finally, Facebook is also rolling out some new ad options which include:

  • A new ‘Conversion Leads’ goal for Lead Ads – this will allow¬†advertisers to optimise for leads most likely to convert, versus pure volume
  • The option to convert Lead ads forms into Messenger templates to follow up with leads
  • ‘Call Ads’ – this¬†will enable advertisers to display a ‘Call Now’ CTA button in their ads

Facebook really has treated us here with some great additions that are sure to come in handy!

TikTok Business Hub

TikTok has introduced a new ‚ÄėBusiness Creative Hub‚Äô aimed to help brands tap into the latest trends on the platform.

The new hub was developed from the lack of inspiration amongst businesses and is great for those looking to flex their creative muscles when it comes to creating content on the platform.

Within the hub, users will find a¬†showcase of trending content in three different categories, which aim¬†to highlight creative, engaging use of TikTok clips by brands and is available via the ‚ÄėBusiness Suite‚Äô section of the ‚ÄėSettings and Privacy‚Äô menu on the platform.

Instagram Anti-Bullying Filter

Instagram is launching a new feature to help better manage bullying on the platform.

The feature gives users a new way to shield themselves from harassment within their DMs through a set of words, phrases and emojis that might signal abusive content.

The feature will not be automatically rolled out amongst accounts, with users having to turn on the option within their account settings. From here, Instagram will filter DMs based on a list of words and emojis with the help of anti-discrimination and bullying organisations.

Instagram is also giving users the ability to proactively block people even if they try to contact via a new account.

These still features are still early in development and will be rolled out within the next few weeks.

Pinterest Content Claiming Portal

Pinterest is rolling out a new Content Claiming Portal which will allow creators to protect their content and determine its use on the platform.

The new tool allows users to choose from the following enforcement options upon uploading their content:

  • Mine only – Current¬†and future versions of the image uploaded by others¬†will be removed from Pinterest, except for¬†Pins originally saved by the creator.
  • Website only – Current and future¬†versions of the image will be removed from Pinterest, except those that link to the creator‚Äôs website.
  • Block all – All current and future¬†versions of the image will be removed from Pinterest.

Pinterest commented on the addition, saying,¬†‚ÄúWe‚Äôve heard from creators that they want more control over where their content appears, including the ability to remove existing and future versions of their content, and we want to help enable that control. Pinterest has always been a way for creators, brands and publishers worldwide to feature their content and build value. Pinterest is designed to drive traffic back to the original creators who are benefiting from having new global audiences discover their work.‚ÄĚ

The portal is currently only available to a select group of users and will be rolled out further in the future.

Google is adding new emerging trend insights within Google Ads, which will alert marketers to relevant e-commerce trends and changes.

The new reports are a great addition and allow advertisers to update their ad strategy in line with demand – definitely one to take a look at!

We’re loving the new ‘Reverse Photoshop’ Dove campaign.

The campaign brilliantly highlights how many¬†digital effects were used to create images on social media in a refreshing short video and is aimed at raising awareness of the damage that this does for young girls’ mental health – great job Dove!

Stay safe and have a great weekend!
