Facebook Newsletters

Facebook is looking to develop new newsletter creation and distribution tools.

Facebook explained, “As writers, experts and journalists publish more of their work independently, we’re working to better support those efforts and make it easier for those content creators to build businesses online. In the coming months in the U.S., we’ll introduce a new platform to empower independent writers, helping them reach new audiences and grow their businesses.”

The newsletter tool will offer a range of style and layout options as well as various distribution options including:

  • Integration with Facebook Pages
  • The ability to create groups for your community of readers
  • A range of features to make your content easily discoverable
  • Performance insights
  • Monetization tools
  • Accelerator programs including tips and best practices

Facebook also added, “A large part of this initiative is aimed at supporting independent local journalists who are often the lone voice covering a given community. We’ll work to include them at launch, and build tools and services specific to their needs.”

A great addition here from Facebook and one that will be especially useful for smaller businesses and publications considering the platform’s large potential reach!

Twitter InStream Video

Twitter is testing a new way to better display YouTube videos within the app.

This comes shortly after Twitter’s announcement that users will soon be able to upload 4k images onto the app through a new feature within ‘Data Usage’ settings as well as being given a more accurate preview of images within the timeline.

Users will soon be able to play YouTube videos directly from their timeline without having to leave the Twitter app whereas before, users would have to click a link and be directed to the YouTube app.

The feature will initially be available within the US, Japan, Canada and Saudi Arabia. There’s no news yet as to when the feature will be rolled out globally and will be a handy one for those looking to share content across platforms.

Instagram For Kids

Facebook is looking to create a new separate Instagram app for kids under 13.

This comes just a week after Instagram announced a range of new safety additions for teenagers and is very much still in the early stages of development.

Facebook commented on the addition saying, “Increasingly, kids are asking their parents if they can join apps that help them keep up with their friends. Right now, there aren’t many options for parents, so we’re working on building additional products—like we did with Messenger Kids—that are suitable for kids, managed by parents. We’re exploring bringing a parent-controlled experience to Instagram to help kids keep up with their friends, discover new hobbies and interests and more.”

With the increasing demand for social media amongst children, the addition will definitely be welcome so long as Instagram is cautious in monitoring user behaviour on the app.

It’s great to see that Instagram has already acknowledged some of the challenges involved in making a platform just for children and will be verifying users’ ages upon signing up. The platform commented, “We have to do a lot here, but part of the solution is to create a version of Instagram for young people or kids where parents have transparency or control. It’s one of the things we’re exploring.”

This is a great addition from Instagram showing that users’ safety is clearly a key focus on the platform – We expect it’s just a matter of time before TikTok also follows suit!

Instagram Re-Shared Tags

Instagram has added new labels onto Stories posts that have been reposted to a users’ feed.

As shown above, posts re-shared from both the main IG feed and Reels may soon have labels attached to them explaining their origin.

With many users now using Instagram Stories as a competition trigger or a place to share feed posts, we doubt that this move will be a popular one but shows that Instagram is definitely not giving up when it comes to encouraging authentic content on the platform.

Although this isn’t a big addition, it’s interesting to see that Instagram is really working to discourage resharing and we’re interested to see what other steps the platform puts in place in the future.

Have you visited TikTok’s  Ads Library?

The library lists all of the best performing TikTok campaigns currently on the platform and provides a range of search filters and filters so that you can explore the most relevant ads for your business.

This is especially handy for those who are looking to improve their TikTok strategy and get creative with their ads – definitely one to check out!

This week, we’re loving Zalando’s ‘Here to Stay’ campaign!

The campaign celebrates people who stay true to their beliefs and tackles a range of issues such as diversity, inclusion and female empowerment in a powerful video showing people that it’s good to be different and to be true to themselves.

The campaign goes in line with Zalando’s ambition to contribute to a more inclusive future for everyone and celebrates those who stay true to their beliefs and take a stand for lasting progress – great work!

Stay safe and have a fab weekend!
